The event will answer the following questions:

Did humans evolve from apes and lesser beings?
How did (and still does) evolution influence Planned Parenthood and other advocates of birth control, eugenics, abortion, and transgenderism?
How is the culture of death linked to evolution?
What is the traditional doctrine of creation and how can it help win back fallen away Catholics – especially the youth?

Unmasking the roots of today’s abortion and transgender movements

Today’s culture of death permeates all aspects of our society and culture. Many souls are being lost, and innumerable unborn children are being killed by abortion and abortifacient contraception. In order to roll back the culture of death and restore a culture of life, Catholics must unmask the roots of the abortion movement, which lie in Darwinism and molecules-to-man evolution, and see how it influences today’s culture.

Attendees will learn:

How Darwinian evolutionary thought developed over the centuries
How molecules-to-man evolution influences today’s secular culture
How a global flood (Noah’s flood) is important to understanding geologic history
What Sacred Scripture and the Church’s Sacred Tradition teach about creation and the origins of man
How cutting-edge science is confirming both Sacred Scripture and Sacred Tradition
What the Saints, Magisterium, Popes, Church Councils, and early Church Fathers taught on the doctrine of creation
How learning the traditional doctrine of creation can help build a culture of life

About the Kolbe Center

The Kolbe Center for the Study of Creation is a Catholic apostolate founded in 2000 to educate the public, particularly within the Catholic Church, in the truth of creation as revealed by Sacred Scripture and Sacred Tradition and as confirmed by the findings of modern science.

With the help of experts in the fields of theology, philosophy, and natural science, the Kolbe Center also seeks to show the superiority of special creation over all forms of molecules-to-man evolution as an explanation of the origins of man and the universe. Its patrons are the Immaculate Conception and St. Maximilian Kolbe.

Presenters

Hugh Owen

Hugh Owen is the convert son of Sir David Owen, a former Assistant Secretary General of the United Nations and Secretary General of International Planned Parenthood Federation. Hugh attended Princeton University where, at the age of 18, he was baptized, confirmed and made his first Holy Communion in the Princeton University Chapel on the Easter Vigil, in 1972. Hugh received a B.A. in honors in history from New York University, and a M.S. in education in supervision and administration from Bank Street College of Education in New York City. Between 1977 and 1991, Hugh worked as a teacher and administrator of several independent schools and served as a school evaluator for the Middle States Association and as a member of the executive committee of the New Jersey Association of Independent Schools. Hugh has written numerous books and articles on Catholic and secular topics. His books and articles have been published by the Catholic Distance University, Human Life International, Seton Home School, The Apostolate for Family Consecration, Latin Mass Magazine, and many other publications. For thirteen years, Hugh served as the director of religious education for St. John Bosco Parish in the Diocese of Arlington, Virginia. Hugh currently serves as director and founder of the Kolbe Center for the Study of Creation.

Pamela Acker

Pamela Acker holds a Master’s degree in Biology from The Catholic University of America. She has taught science in a variety of settings (from middle school to college) since 2008. Prior to working as a teacher, Pamela was involved in biological research as a whole genome library maker at The Genome Sequencing Center at Washington University in Saint Louis. She has also conducted research in vaccine delivery using T4 bacteriophage nanoparticles, and was briefly involved in researching novel gene regulation mechanisms in C. elegans.
